when I said that digg stories on techmeme was an increasingly rare occurrence - today we have a veritable plethora of digg stuff.

A user revolt, how refreshing. Like they haven’t done it before. The main problem is that there is increasingly less to do on digg. Basically there’s two things that are anyway fun:

• Look at the top ten on the front page (takes all of five seconds)
• Game the system

A lot of people resist changes that make the second thing harder not entirely because it generates traffic (and therefore money) but because it’s the most enjoyable thing about the site.

The solution is simple - make the site useful. Reddit, mixx, and every other digg clone out there have been doing that for a while.
