The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford is, beyond all expectations, a wonderful examination of fame, distrust, jealousy, middle age, corruption, and murder. It’s made all the more poignant by Casey Affleck eclipsing his brother’s acting career with this and one other movie.

There’s a comment at the first link that turns a nice phrase:

“The location shooting was done in western Canada and looks a whole lot more like Missouri then than Missouri does now.”

And James Carville is in it!

The family of Jesse James have posted their own 5 page review of this movie on their family web site, together with stories about the James family’s former experiences with Hollywood and Jesse James movies.
