While looking at “people you might know” in facebook, I came across a person whose wikipedia entry says she graduated from St. Thomas High in Pointe Claire, Quebec. Since I used to live in the next train stop over from Point Claire, I followed the link to St. Thomas High, and discovered that according to some study, “For the 2006 school year, St. Thomas ranked 90th out of all the 466 schools in the province.”
As a graduate of a different high school in Montreal, I had to go looking for that study. And I’m proud to find that my alma mater is tied for 42nd out of 466. And even better is that it’s tied with the most snobbish school in all of Quebec, LCC.
I suppose I sound snobbish or insecure or something, but I never really cared about school rankings until people started throwing them in my face at job interviews.
