I’ve received some complaints about my remarks on digg here. My first impulse to these comments is to bring out Sarah Lacy’s book, share some of my favorite quotes, interspersed with maniacal laughing and random outbursts beginning with “They actually had the nerve…” While I would love to talk more openly, the company has suggested that being forthright about my experience will cost me a lot of money (that I don’t have). So while I continuing to work on my book (it’s going well!) I’m going to try to tone down my personal opinions on the company here and elsewhere. Even more than I already have.

That being said, there’s a couple more considerations. My postings on digg do very well traffic-wise - my post on the Science category being the least spammed actually got more daily uniques than the combined headcount at digg.com and Gunderson-Dettmer, a definite milestone!

Secondly, it’s clear to many people that digg lacks transparency. The graphs and statistics I have published here are specifically directed at that problem - I especially don’t like the word “shady” being associated with something I originally wrote.

As a result, it’s likely that I’m going to step up the amount of digg stats and graphs published here, and try and focus more on the lack of transparency at digg, both because it helps my traffic, and it’s the right thing to do.

Disclaimer.
