In 2004, I built, with Kevin Rose, the website digg.com, which grew to become the leading "social news" website on the web, ranking as high as 55th in world internet traffic rankings from alexa.com. From inception in October 2004 to our series A funding in fall 2005, I was the primary technical decision-maker for the company, and contributed to strategy, customer support, and operations.

Programming in C, Perl and other languages on Unix/Windows/MacOS. Planned and implemented an Apache intranet server, several print servers and a variety of other "NT replacements" using Linux. Involved with maintenance and support for a variety of servers, operating systems (Solaris, Linux, NT, OpenVMS) and databases (primarily Oracle). Developed many utility scripts in Perl and Tcl, including scripts to modify code for migration from cgi-based perl to mod_perl on Apache, migrate Sendmail mailboxes from Solaris to Linux, and a set of web pages for monitoring and controlling DHCP. Part of a team that migrated the Herald to 2 new business systems in time for Y2K.
